Stephen & Susan B.

The day after Thanksgiving 2015, I had an appointment that was the beginning of a life-changing experience.

It took 67 days from the time I started testing until I heard the news… I had multiple myeloma.

The experience of having cancer has been very different than I thought it would be. Of course, I thought I’d never have it. I also thought a cancer diagnosis meant a slow and painful death. It’s been anything but that. After getting past the initial shock, having multiple myeloma made me examine my life from physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental perspectives. I appreciate more the people I love. I am grateful for the help I’ve received and the healing that has taken place and continues to take place.

I know what’s important. It’s love. Everything else is just stuff. Love.

I wish you the best of health in your journey and please know that there are amazing doctors, researchers, and mice working hard at the Institute for Myeloma & Bone Cancer Research (IMBCR) to rid the world of multiple myeloma. I know they’ll do it.
